The intention

We would like to describe the campaign's intentions and answer common questions along the way up until the auction. If you have any questions you do not find an answer to, please do not hesitate to fill in the form below, and we will answer them accordingly.

1. Is the auction open only for Swedish bidders?
No, the auction process follows international standards and will be open for any bidder as long as they are legitimate, according to the auction house's requirements.

2. Isn't this just a yacht sale dressed up as a heritage project?
Of course, the transaction between the seller and the buyer is the fundamental part of this process. We hope to inspire potential custodians for Sverige to let her sail under the Swedish flag and preferably with her homeport in Sweden. We are using the sale as an opportunity to celebrate and preserve an important piece of sailing heritage and to engage future generations.

3. Why should Sverige belong in Sweden?
The campaign was created to highlight Sverige's Swedish heritage and encourage Swedish stewardship, while remaining open to anyone who genuinely values its history and future.

4. What exactly is the youth sailing contribution?
The framework is currently being developed together with relevant stakeholders and will be announced before the auction concludes. The process of the auctioning, as well as the part dedicated as a donation to youth sailing, will be supervised by a Swedish Notary Public.

5. Who decides who is the "right" custodian?
Neither the seller nor anyone involved in the campaign will override the actual final auction result. The campaign Bring Sverige Home can only seek to attract the right audience and inspire and encourage bidders who share the intention that it would be beneficial for the protection of our sailing heritage that the yacht Sverige return home to Sweden and sail under the Swedish flag. The auction process itself remains transparent and fair.

6. What if the winner immediately sells the yacht?
The future of the yacht will belong to the future owner. What Bring Sverige Home can do is maximize the probability that the next custodian appreciates the yacht's heritage and wishes to preserve it.

7. Is this campaign a result of nationalism?
No. The initiative is about sailing heritage, stewardship, and future generations of sailors. While Sverige's story began in Sweden, it is intended to be shared with sailing enthusiasts around the world.

8. Why launch the campaign on Midsummer Eve, June 19, 2026?

Midsummer is widely regarded as one of Sweden's most cherished traditions. Many consider it the most Swedish day of the year, celebrating family, community, tradition, the bright northern nights, and hopes for the future.

June 19, 2026, also marks the Golden Wedding Anniversary of HM King Carl XVI Gustaf and HM Queen Silvia of Sweden, who were involved from the start of the Sverige project. HM King Carl XVI Gustaf was actively participating in the preparations and sailing, and just a few days after the royal wedding on June 19, 1976, HM Queen Silvia christened Sverige S3 at the launch in Stenungsund, where the yacht was built. The ceremony was among Her Majesty's earliest public engagements as Queen of Sweden.

Launching the campaign Bring Sverige Home on Midsummer Eve this year felt like a symbolic and meaningful 50-year anniversary connection, including the royal wedding, Swedish traditions, and the beginning of a new chapter for the yacht Sverige.
